Brad Sherman on Sunday\, February 4\, 2024\, from 2 – 4 PM at Palisades Charter High School’s Mercer Hall. \nUpdate: Mayor Bass was scheduled to attend but now has to hold a press conference about the storm. Other electeds may similiarly be called away at the last minute. DESCRIPTION:Join PPDC and invite your like-minded friends — members and non-members\, all are welcome — to a docent-led tour of Villa Aurora\, right here in Pacific Palisades at 520 Paseo Miramar. We’ll meet at 2:30 PM Thursday\, December 7\, 2023 for a tour that starts at 3 PM. Proceeds from ticket sales will go to both PPDC and Villa Aurora.\n\n  \nVilla Aurora is an artists’ residency and a venue for international cultural encounters in the former home of German-Jewish exiles Leon and Marta Feuchtwanger. As an interdisciplinary residence\, Villa Aurora carries the memories of the artists and intellectuals who found refuge in California during the Nazi era\, and who at the time had significant influence on cultural life on the West Coast. Every year\, Villa Aurora and the Thomas Mann House award up to twelve fellowships to artists\, composers\, authors\, and filmmakers. You may remember in 2017 she unseated the self-described “chief homophobe” of Virginia to become the first out-and-seated transgender state legislator in US history. Since then\, she has passed 41 of her bills into law — all with bipartisan support. Now she is running for a newly drawn district in the Virginia State Senate. This is one of the seven toss-up seats and the 20th-most Democratic seat out of 40 seats\, making it a majority maker for which party will control the Senate for the next four years. \nGrassroots Democrats HQ \nThe Grassroots Democrats HQ is excited to dive back into Virginia for the fourth time! In 2019\, we were proud to make 20\,000 phone calls and write 13\,000 letters across 6 races. Since then\, our capacity has significantly expanded.
